The Amazon Clipper Overview

This itinerary varies depending on whether you choose the 2, 3, or 5 night cruise. 2 night cruise departs on Mondays, the 3 night cruises depart on Wednesdays, and the 5 night cruise departs on Mondays and combines the two shorter itineraries. All cruises depart from the dock outside the Hotel Tropical Manaus. We receive excellent rates at this hotel and will arrange that part of your trip as well. 2 Night Cruise Itinerary

Day 1       Sunday       Arrive to Manaus / City Tour

Upon arrival to Manaus you will be met at the airport by a local representative and transferred to your hotel, located on the banks of the Rio Negro. Depending on the time or your arrival we can arrange for a city tour including a visit to the historic Amazonas Opera House, built in 1896 during the rubber boom.

Day 2       Monday       Begin the Cruise

Early in the afternoon you will board the Clipper and have time to settle in and enjoy a welcome drink as the boat begins navigating up the river. After dinner, you will use powerful searchlights to explore the water’s edge in search of nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3       Tuesday       Janauca Lake

This morning you will wake up at Janauaca Lake and head out in canoes to explore the forest as it awakens. After breakfast back aboard the boat, you will walk into the rainforest to visit a local village and learn about life in the region. In the late afternoon you will do some piranha fishing, during which you may see hoatzins and large flocks of egrets. You will end the day with an evening excursion in canoes to observe nocturnal animals and experience the star-filled sky in an area with virtually no man-made light.

Day 4       Wednesday       Janauray Ecological Park

This morning you will explore Janauary Ecological Park’s flooded forest by canoe or walking on catwalks, observing wildlife in the trees and in the water. During breakfast back aboard the boat, you will navigate to a unique point known as “the meeting of the waters,” where the brightly-colored water of the Amazon and the dark water of the Rio Negro flow side by side without mixing. Upon your boat’s arrival to Manaus Port, you will disembark outside the Hotel Tropical.

3 Night Cruise Itinerary

Day 3       Thursday       Anavilhanas National Park

Early this morning you will explore the river’s edge in canoes in search of parrots, toucans, and other wildlife. After breakfast you will have a jungle walk, followed by time to swim before lunch. In the afternoon you will navigate through the Anavilhanas National Park, one of the world`s largest fresh water archipelagos, and explore its labyrinth of waterways in canoes.

Day 4       Friday       Village Visit / Beach Exploration

This morning you will spend a little time fishing for piranhas and other Amazonian fish. After breakfast you will visit a local community, where you will learn about Amazonian plants and fruits and how they are used in local life. After lunch, you will land on a white sand beach to swim in the dark water and explore the waterways by canoe. During dinner back aboard, your boat will navigate toward the Amazon River.
