These departures are specially designed for families with children. Enjoy daily excursions to remote islands with your naturalist guides, who know how to make sure the whole family is having a great time. View a stunning array of wildlife at close range, along with snorkeling and kayaking. Families are generally organized into groups based on the age similarities between the children. This is an unbeatable family trip that none of you will ever forget.

2013 Dates for Family Departures (no discounts are offered during holiday weeks-H):  There are numerous family departures provided throughout the year.  Just let us know when your family would like to travel and we will provide the best available departures for your family.

Popular Extensions for Families with More Time:  A popular extension to the Galapagos Family Departure is to go to the Amazon rainforest to stay at Sacha Lodge for 3 or 4 nights.  It’s an amazing combination of two natural highlights of South America.

You may also consider extending your time to visit some of the highlands and the Avenue of the Volcanoes.  Otavalo is famous for having one of the largest outdoor markets on the continent. Official market day is Saturday, and that is when it is most crowded, but the market is open every day. It is also possible to spend a night or two in the area of Otavalo at an historic hacienda, such as Hacienda Zuleta, Hacienda Cusin or Hacienda Pinsaqui.  This a great way to see some more of this side of Ecuadorian culture.  Please inquire if interested.

Hotel Options in Quito:  A charming 3 to 4 star boutique hotel that we work with in the Old Town of Quito is the Casa San Marcos. This is one of our top choices in Quito for its local atmosphere and uniqueness (in some ways it is more like staying in someone’s colonial home than in a hotel). Nearby is the Hotel Patio Andaluz (4 star), a bit larger and another very good option. Luxury hotels that we recommend and work with in Old Town Quito include Casa Gangotena (our top luxury choice) and the Plaza Grande. A good 3 to 4 star boutique hotel option in the new part of town is the Casa Aliso.
