Day by Day Itinerary

Overview:  this extension can be done with any one of a few different hotels; our top choices are the Altiplanico (4 star boutique style hotel) and the Tierra Atacama (4-5 star boutique style hotel).  The itinerary below outlines a 3 night/4 day stay at the Altiplanico with privately guided excursions; the itinerary at the Tierra Atacama would be similar, but would include all meals, and group excursions with others from the hotel rather than private excursions.  The price for the Tierra Atacama is $400 per person higher.

Day 1        Santiago / San Pedro de Atacama

Fly north from Santiago to the driest desert in the world, the Atacama. This is an extraordinary place, full of unique and mesmerizing scenery. Volcanoes, immense salt flats, lagoons of otherworldly colors, flamingos, unusual wildlife, hot springs…. It’s amazing more people don’t visit this place.   You’ll be staying in a lovely small hotel with a unique design that blends naturally into the surrounding landscape.

Day 2       San Pedro de Atacama

You’ll spend the next two days exploring the area, taking guided excursions to experience the natural wonders of the area up close.  There are numerous excursions available in San Pedro, from horseback riding and mountain biking to trips to pink flamingo-filled lagoons, volcano hikes and geyser excursions.

A day for activities and excursions as mentioned above.

Day 4       Santiago / Home or Continue Trip

Today you transfer back to the airport where you fly back to Santiago and connect with your international flight home or continue your trip.
