  • Outstanding small hotels
  • Otherworldly lagoons and salt flats
  • Can be customized and extended
  • Can be combined with other destinations

Day by Day Itinerary

Overview:  this extension can be done with any one of a few different hotels; our top choices are the Tierra Atacama (4-5 star boutique style hotel) and Awasi (5 star boutique hotel).  The itinerary below outlines a 3 night/4 day all-inclusive stay at Tierra Atacama with group excursions with others from the hotel; the itinerary at Awasi would be similar, also all-inclusive, but would include private excursions.  The price for Awasi is $550 per person higher.

(Included meals indicated in parentheses B,L,D)

Day 1        Santiago / San Pedro de Atacama

Fly north from Santiago to the driest desert in the world, the Atacama. This is an extraordinary place, full of unique and mesmerizing scenery. Volcanoes, immense salt flats, lagoons of otherworldly colors, flamingos, unusual wildlife, hot springs, and geysers…. It’s amazing more people don’t visit this place.   You’ll be staying in a lovely small hotel with a unique design that blends naturally into the surrounding landscape.
Tierra Atacama(B,L,D) (Awasi is available as a hotel upgrade; there are several top quality small hotels in this area we can recommend)

You’ll spend the next two days exploring the area, taking guided excursions to experience the natural wonders of the area up close.  There are numerous excursions available in San Pedro, from horseback riding and mountain biking to trips to pink flamingo-filled lagoons, volcano hikes and geyser excursions.
