Explore the upscale village of Zermatt beneath the Matterhorn, cruise Lake Lucerne past covered wooden bridges, hike the high trails above Interlaken in the Jungfrau region, and wander the old towns of Zurich and Geneva. Sample handmade chocolate in a village atelier, or sit down to fondue in a mountain hut. In winter, the ski resorts of Zermatt, St. Moritz, and Verbier are among some of the best in Europe.
June through September brings warm days and clear alpine trails, making it the best window for hiking and lake towns. Ski season runs roughly December through April, with alpine villages such as St. Moritz and Zermatt holding snow well into spring. May and October are quieter shoulder months with lower prices, though some high-altitude trails and cable cars may still be closed.

Trips can be as active as you like. Exploring a city’s old town often involves walking over cobblestones, and Swiss villages can involve walking up and down hills. Beyond that, a trip can be tailored to each person’s personal fitness and desires. Ski on world-class runs, hike through exceptional mountain scenery, kayak on alpine lakes, or simply amble on gentle meadow paths and take a gondola to see plenty of stunning landscapes. Switzerland is unique in that you can often reach incredible viewpoints with ease.
Yes. Switzerland pairs easily with Italy, France, or Austria by train, and is a popular add-on to a broader Alps itinerary.
Switzerland’s rail network reaches deep into the mountains, putting high-alpine scenery within easy reach. The combination of four language regions, from German-speaking Zurich to Italian-speaking Ticino, gives the country more cultural range than its size would suggest.
