Sample itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to Santiago

View of Santiago de Chile with Los Andes mountain range in the back

Arrive to Santiago, Chile’s metropolitan capital, where your private guide will take you to your boutique hotel in the charming Lastarria neighborhood. Lastarria is a nice area for walking around, with quiet streets, flowering trees, attractive colonial architecture, and a variety of restaurants and boutiques.

There are plenty of things to see and do in the Santiago area. Take a private tour of Santiago, either on your arrival day or as a one-day extension, or add a trip (day or overnight) to nearby wine country or the historic port city of Valparaíso. Just let us know your interests.

Accommodations: Lastarria Boutique Hotel

Built in 1927 and situated in the heart of one of Santiago’s most charming neighborhoods, this city mansion has been renovated and converted into a boutique hotel with excellent personal service. Museums, galleries, trendy shops, antique stores, and innovative restaurants are close by. The hotel offers a restaurant and lounge, swimming pool, and charming interior courtyard.

Day 2:

The Windswept Strait of Magellan and Last Hope Sound

Road between Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales

Fly south to Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales and enjoy a scenic private transfer to your hotel, located in this small fishing town. Set on the beautiful Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales is the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park.

Accommodations: Weskar Patagonian Lodge

The Weskar Patagonian Lodge sits on top of a hill, just 10 minutes away from the center of Puerto Natales in Chilean Patagonia. Glaciers, mountain ranges, sea channels, and the Última Esperanza Sound are all visible from the hotel windows. Its 28 rooms are large, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and its on-site restaurant serves high quality Patagonian dishes. A refined but unpretentious lodge, not as modern and minimalist as some of the other boutique hotel options in this area, and that is part of its local charm.

*Includes: Breakfast

Day 3:

Navigate to Balmaceda Glacier / Zodiac into Torres del Paine

Zodiac into Torres del Paine National Park

Cross the Last Hope Sound by boat to Balmaceda glacier, disembarking there to explore the area on foot. Continue by a smaller zodiac boat along the Serrano River into Torres del Paine National Park. Enjoy a traditional Patagonian lunch before driving to your lodge. This is an exceptional and much less commonly traveled way into the park.

Accommodations: Tierra Patagonia

An exceptional option in the area of Torres del Paine National Park, Tierra Patagonia Hotel sits on a bluff where the pampa meets Lake Sarmiento, with views across the lake to the peaks of the Paine Massif from all rooms. The beautifully well-designed building seems to emerge from the hillside and blends harmoniously with the landscape. Patagonian details decorate its three suites, 34 superior rooms and three standard rooms. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, library lounge, spa with heated pool and hot tub, and one of the loveliest views in Torres del Paine.

*Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Alternative lodging options: Patagonia Camp, EcoCamp Patagonia, Awasi Patagonia, Explora Patagonia, and others
Day 4-5:

Guanaco in Torres del Paine

Enjoy guided excursions each day to see the park’s iconic sites, such as the soaring granite towers from which it takes its name. Day 6:

Transfer to El Calafate, Land of Towering Glaciers

Patagonia El Calafate Estancia

Bordering the national park, this estancia offers a view into traditional Patagonian life and access to some rarely-visited and beautiful areas of Argentine Patagonia.

Nibepo Aike was established as a functioning ranch at the beginning of the 20th century. Located on the southern bank of Lake Argentino, it has a privileged location inside Los Glaciares National Park. The estancia offers easy access, on horseback or via hiking or biking, to places with magnificent, off the beaten path views of the surrounding glaciers and mountains. The estancia has 10 guest rooms: eight double rooms and two triple rooms, all with private bathrooms. The dining room serves traditional meat and vegetable dishes made mostly from home produce.

*Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Alternative lodging options: Estancia Helsingfors, Eolo
Day 7:

Up Close and Personal on Perito Moreno Glacier

(Crampons will be provided; this is a non-technical and non-strenuous walking excursion. We can also arrange more challenging and strenuous treks on the glacier.) Afterward, visit the viewing areas for great views of the glacier before returning to your estancia for a traditional Patagonian asado dinner.
