Hacienda Termales La Quinta
Located at approximately 7,800 feet above sea level in the Cloud Forest of Colombia, Hacienda Termales la Quinta is a unique property that provides special access to the remote and beautiful area at the base of Los Nevados National Park. The hacienda has 8 rooms and is lovingly cared for by a local family, who also prepare delicious, traditional Colombian meals on the wood-burning stove.
Arrival Information:
Arriving to the hacienda is half the adventure. You will drive approximately 1 hour from the town of Manizales to the main gate. After arriving to the gate you will be greeted by your local hosts, who will have mules ready to transport your luggage. You will then have a 20 minute horseback ride down a steep dirt path, or you can choose to hike in to the lodge (approximately 45 minutes on foot, all downhill). Please note that there is no vehicle access to the hacienda; the only way in and out is either on horseback or on foot.
Excursions:
During your time at the hacienda you will be able to horseback ride or hike on the extensive property to see waterfalls, take a dip in the small pool that is fed by a natural hot spring, or simply relax and settle into the rhythm of life with your charming Colombian hosts. (Please note that your hosts will not speak any English, but you will be accompanied by a bilingual guide.)
Additional Information:
The hacienda is a traditional and remote ranch house, very comfortable but fairly rustic, and electricity during your stay may not be 100% reliable. There is hot water (also sourced from the thermal spring) but there is no central heating. Depending on the season it can get cold at night and you may appreciate having a pair of long johns or some warm layers. There is no cell service or internet at the hacienda.
