Arenal Observatory Lodge

The Arenal Observatory Lodge’s unique location has made it an ideal base over the years for scientists to study the Arenal Volcano, including projects conducted by the Smithsonian Institute. An extensive trail system winds through the property connecting the different lodge facilities with the surrounding natural beauty. Please note the lodge is comfortable but basic. Although it is not a luxury property, it is a great option in the area due to its location on a ridge only 1.7 miles from the volcano, providing outstanding views of the volcano and Arenal Lake.
