Mashpi Lodge
Situated high in the Andes on a plateau in Ecuador’s Mashpi Rainforest Biodiversity Reserve, Mashpi Lodge offers up-close views of the lush rainforest that surrounds it. The lodge is sophisticated and modern, built with the latest sustainability techniques and designed to blend beautifully with its surroundings. Each of the 22 rooms has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the jungle, as does the 2-story dining room, which features gourmet Ecuadorian-fusion cuisine.
Arrival information:
Mashpi Lodge is about a 3 hour drive from Quito. You will be picked up from your hotel in Quito by a representative of the lodge, who will transfer you through spectacular Ecuadorian landscapes to the Chocó region, an area renowned for its biodiversity. Upon arrival to the lodge, you will have lunch before being shown to your room.
Excursions:
When you arrive you will be introduced to your naturalist guides, who will brief you on the activities available to you during your stay. Excursions and attractions include hiking and nature walks, night walks, a Life Center with orchid and butterfly farms, hummingbird shelter, waterfalls, and a 100-foot observation tower. Mashpi also offers a unique attraction called the Dragonfly, an innovative cable car system that carries you under, over, and through the forest canopy (additional cost applies for the Dragonfly, which can be paid directly).
