Heliconia Amazon River Lodge

Located on the banks of the Amazon River in Yanamono's Communal Reserve, Heliconia is named for the tropical flowers that bloom in the jungle around the lodge. The lodge is accessed via an hour-long river journey out of Iquitos, during which you will get your first look at the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon River. The lodge is an eight-building complex, built on stilts in the traditional manner of the Yanamono community. The 21 rooms, restaurant, bar/lounge, and hammock bungalow are all fully screened to keep out insects, and are connected by palm-thatched corridors. The lodge is rustic, with set hours for generator-provided electricity, but extremely comfortable, and an excellent way to experience the mystery and beauty of the Peruvian Amazon Jungle.
