Flights to Chiloe, Chile

On November 7, 2012, Lan Chile Airlines began offering four weekly flights to Chiloe.  The flight departs Santiago and makes a quick stop in Puerto Montt before arriving to Chiloe.

Chiloe

Chiloe Island is the largest island of Chiloe Archipelago off the coast of Chile, in the Pacific Ocean.  This island has a rich and vibrant history and is home to one of the world´s relatively few temperate rain forests.  It is home to Chiloe National Park and Tantauco Park and is surrounded my hundreds of smaller islands, making it a great place to kayak.  The island has a humid, cool, temperate climate.

Excursions

One option for visiting is a one day excursionwhen staying in Puerto Varas, another is as an overnight down in Chiloe itself.  For the day excursion, you are picked up from your hotel for your full day visit to the island of Chiloe.  After taking the ferry to the island you visit the towns of Chacao, Caulin and Ancud, as well as the local penguin rookery.  After your tour around the island are transferred back to the mainland with drop off at your hotel.  An overnight or couple night stay is a way to settle into the local rhythms and experience more of this unique and charming island.
