4 Night High Water Itinerary

Day 1     Monday     Arrive to Iquitos / Begin the Cruise

Arriving on a noon flight, you’ll receive a warm welcome at Iquitos International Airport by the Aria crew. Board a private transfer to downtown Iquitos for a panoramic city tour and a welcome lunch. Then, you’ll transfer to Nauta for embarkation. Settle into your cabin, be introduced to your naturalist guides, and gather at the restaurant for a meal created by Aria Amazon’s renowned consulting chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.

Day 2     Tuesday     Yanallpa River / Dorado River

Being your day with search for wildlife along the Ucayali River. Later, head out on skiffs in search of pink river dolphins and witness the local farmers and fishermen go about their business. At dusk, ride along the black waters of El Dorado River, searching for the nocturnal creatures that come out after dark.

Day 3     Wednesday    Ucayali River – Puinahua River – Zapote River

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading out to explore the Zapote River on skiffs. This will be a full-day river safari with a picnic lunch under the Amazonian shade. Walk in the flood plain forest and learn about the medicinal trees, insects, and frogs which inhabit the region. Later, cruise along the Ucayali River and enjoy the stunning sunset.

Day 4     Thursday     Clavero or Yarapa River / Amazon River

Start the day by searching for wildlife along the Ucayali River. After breakfast, choose to go fishing for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas, canoe, kayak, or swim in the black water Clavero Lake, or visit an Amazonian village. In the afternoon, explore the Yarapa River by skiff in search of different kinds of wildlife.

Day 5     Friday    Nauta Town–Manatee Rescue Centre–Transfer to the Airport

In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market and marvel at the regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon. Return to Aria Amazon for breakfast before disembarkation. Enroute to the airport, visit the Manatee Rescue Center, where orphaned Amazonian manatees rehabilitate before they are released back into the wild.

3 Night High Water Itinerary

Day 1 Friday Arrive to Iquitos / Begin the Cruise

Day 2 Saturday Amazon River / Yarapa River / Nauto Caño

Aboard one of the comfortable skiffs, you will set sail from the Amazon River to the Yarapa River. Keep your binoculars ready to spot tropical songbirds, black collared hawks and sloths. From there you will go fishing for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas while the naturalist guides share stories of Lake Moringo. As the sun sets, head off on an evening wildlife excursion with extraordinary stargazing on the black waters of Nauta Caño.

Day 3 Sunday Yanayacu Pucate River – Marañon River – Village visit – Jungle walks

Begin the day’s adventures near the main entrance of Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, cruising along Yanayacu Pucate in the comfort of private skiffs. Here, fish for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas while keeping an eye out for other exotic wildlife. Visit an Amazon village and witness a demonstration of aguaje palm harvesting. Kayak, canoe, and swim in the area’s enchanting black waters, all while staying on the lookout for the legendary pink dolphins. After lunch, take a jungle walk in Casual’s Forest and look for flora and fauna including medicinal trees, insects, and poison dart frogs.

Day 4 Monday Nauta / Manatee Rescue Center / Airport

This morning, you will visit the local market with your guides, who will help you identify the daily Amazonian catch and the variety of fruits and vegetables. Later, return to the Aria for breakfast and to pack up. Before saying goodbye, you will visit the Manatee Rescue Center, an orphanage and rehabilitation center for Amazonian manatees. You will also visit San Juan craft market on route to the airport. Lunch or a boxed lunch will be provided, depending on the exact departure flight time, which may vary. Other local activities may be included as well, according to the flight schedule.

4 Night Low Water Itinerary

Day 1     Monday     Arrive to Iquitos / Begin the Cruise

Upon arrival to Iquitos you will be met at the airport and then be taken to lunch at a local restaurant or will have a box lunch en route (depending on the flight arrival time). In the afternoon, we will set off on your first skiff excursion to visit the birthplace of the Amazon. At 6:00 p.m. you will board the Aria. Following a routine safety drill and introduction to the naturalist guides, you will gather for innovative Amazonian cuisine created by our Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, whose restaurant, Malabar, is the one of Lima’s top ranked dining experiences.

Day 2     Tuesday    Marañon River – Yanayacu Pucate River

Get an early start to the day with a birdwatching excursion along the Marañon River. After breakfast, explore the black waters of Yanayacu Pucate River with a possibility to see sloths, great egrets, parrots, and Taricaya turtles. Visit an Amazon village to witness a demonstration of aguaje palm harvesting. After lunch, go fishing for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas and for a dusk excursion in search of exotic nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3     Wednesday    Samiria River – Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

The rewards of our early start today are plentiful, including a picnic lunch under the Amazonian shade, orchestrated to the sound of the jungle symphony. Go fishing along the black waters of Samiria River and choose to go on a jungle walk, canoeing, kayaking, or swimming inside the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Later, cruise along the Ucayali River and enjoy the sunset.

Day 4     Thursday    Puerto Prado Forest – Amazon River

After breakfast, embark on a morning skiff excursion on the Marañon River. Make sure to bring along your binoculars as we try to spot sloths and birds along this majestic river. In the afternoon, we sail along the river to go to Puerto Prado, an indigenous village where there’ll be an opportunity to see giant water lilies.

Day 3     Sunday    Amazon River–Tahuayo River-San Pedro Forest

As the day begins, embark on a morning wildlife excursion on the extraordinary Amazon River. After breakfast, explore the Tahuayo River, a black water tributary of the Amazon while the naturalist guides share stories of Amazonia. After lunch, take a jungle walk at San Pedro or Puerto Prado’s Forest to learn about the Amazonian flora and fauna.
