Antarctica Costs Summarized
The cost of an Antarctic cruise depends on your choice of ship and cabin, the length of the program, your travel dates (peak or off-peak season), and what optional activities you choose to include (such as kayaking). Please contact our Antarctica Specialists to get a more precise idea of what costs you can expect on a specific vessel, but the cost per person will likely be between $6,000 and $15,000. The luxury vessels will be in the high range, and the expedition style vessels towards the lower and middle of these ranges. Special cabin types such as Deluxe Cabins & Owner’s Suites will cost more.
Antarctic Peninsula Cruises (8-11 days) – $6,000 – $12,000
Antarctic Circle Cruises (10-15 days) – $8,000 – $15,000
Antarctic Fly & Cruise (6-10 days) – $5,000 – $15,000
Antarctica Adventure Cruises (8-15 days) – $6,000 – $15,000
South Georgia & Falklands Cruises (16-23 days) $10,000-$20,000
The majority of Antarctic cruises depart from Ushuaia, the southernmost city in Argentina. A typical Antarctica expedition begins with arrival to Buenos Aires (round-trip airfare from your home city to Buenos Aires is required) and then a domestic Argentina flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia (average cost is around $300 per person). It is recommended to arrive to Buenos Aires 2-3 days before your cruise departs. Some cruises include a pre-trip hotel night in Ushuaia, others require that night as an additional cost. The Buenos Aires nights are almost always excluded from the cruise expedition costs.
If you are interested in adding a pre or post-trip land package to explore Argentina, Chile or many other South American destinations along with your Antarctic expedition cruise, feel free to contact us for more details. Our sister company, Vaya Adventures, has a variety land packages that be tailored to your needs. Click here to visit Vaya Adventures website and explore some of our most popular land packages.
Single Cabin: Some vessels have single cabins especially for single travelers. The published rate is what you see and tends to be lower than vessels that charge a single supplement.
Single Supplement: A single supplement is paid when a single passenger occupies a double occupancy cabin as one traveler. The average single supplement cost can vary depending on the departure date, cabin category and vessel. The average for most vessels is 70%.
