Emergency Evacuation, Medical & Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that all of our travelers purchase travel insurance. Travel insurance can help cover a wide variety of circumstances that could potentially lead to the cancelation of your trip or unforeseen out-of-pocket expenses, including baggage loss, missed connections, trip interruption, extreme weather, illness or medical emergency (including medical evacuation costs). It can also help protect you in the event of losing non-refundable trip deposits and payments as a result of cancelation or trip interruption. Families traveling together, in particular, can benefit from traveler’s insurance, due to the high investment in the trip and the increased risk of one person’s illness resulting in the entire trip being canceled.

Additionally, most Antarctica cruise operators require emergency medical evacuation ($100,000 minimum) and proof of medical insurance for all passengers. While some operators include this insurance, most do not. Please refer to your booking email for specific requirements related to your vessel.

When purchasing trip insurance, many options are available. Two potential options are Travelex Insurance Services and Faye. Travelex Insurance Services and Faye both offer a wide range of travel protection plans with a variety of benefits and optional upgrades such as Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR). You can view the details of Travelex’s plans by visiting the Travelex website. You can view the details of Faye’s plans by visiting the Faye website. If you want to shop around to compare coverage and rates, InsureMyTrip.com is a good website for comparing prices from several reputable insurers.
