Mekong River Cruise
Begin your day with a look at Laos’ most traditional Buddhist temple, Wat Xiengthong, before boarding your motor canoe for a two hour scenic cruise upstream on the Mekong River to visit the Pak Ou caves, set in a lime stone cliff opposite the mouth of the Mekong and Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from a mere centimeter to two meters in height. Along the river typical local villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore, bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Our first stop will be at Ban Muangkeo, a well-known village for Lao traditional rice whisky. After a simple lunch, return to Luang Prabang to visit the local weavers at Ock Pop Tok or stroll through the streets to enjoy the special historic architecture, shops and numerous cafes.
Alms-giving, Royal Palace and the Prabang
Early morning excursion today to participate in the daily processions of saffron-clad monks through the streets of Luang Prabang to collect alms. Later we visit the Royal Palace, featuring rooms decorated in traditional Lao style and housing historic relics of the ancient Lao Kingdom including the historic “prabang” figure, a pure golden Buddha image after which the town is named. After, visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn more about the different minorities in Laos. Free time this afternoon to explore town or climb Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the town.
Fly to Siem Reap, city of temples
Morning free in Luang Prabang. Then, fly to Siem Reap. The ruined capital of the powerful Khmer kingdom, Angkor flourished from the 10th to the 15th centuries and comprises some 400 sandstone, brick and laterite temples, walls, tombs and other structures surrounded by jungle.

This afternoon, continue on to Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. After lunch, visit the floating village of Moat Khla, accessible only by water, and attend a Buddhist blessing ceremony in this isolated community.
Tonle Sap Lake to Chhnok Tru to Kampong Chhnang
