Arrive to Arusha, a bustling city and the gateway to some of the continent’s best safari destinations. Your private guide will be waiting to transfer you to your boutique hotel, composed of spacious chalets located in a verdant coffee plantation.
Located in a verdant coffee plantation, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge is reminiscent of the region’s traditional plantation houses. The property comprises 30 wooden chalets nestled among the surrounding gardens and coffee trees. Amenities include a restaurant and bar, swimming pool, spa, and vibrant gardens.
*Includes: Breakfast
Set out from Arusha with your private guide, taking in the local life along the road: vibrant markets, women with impossibly large loads balanced elegantly on their heads, and traditional Maasai people walking with their livestock.
Your first stop today is Lake Manyara National Park. Explore the area around this shallow alkaline lake and see the giant fig trees within the park. Nestled at the base of the Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is home to a vibrant variety of birds and wildlife.
In the afternoon you will ascend the escarpment, bound for your first glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater from above. This evening you will spend the night on the rim of this ancient caldera in one of just a few lodges inside the park gate.
Entamanu Ngorongoro is perched high on the side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, a thoughtfully designed refuge from which to explore the unique highland environment in which it sits. Surrounded by the soaring peaks of dormant volcanic hills and the ebb and flow of Maasai pastoralist life, this is a place to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of the main tourist trail at the Crater.
*Includes: All Inclusive
Be among the first to descend the steep walls of the crater this morning, from your exclusive lodge positioned right on the rim. In these magical morning hours with very few other vehicles, you are witness to the secret rituals of the more than 25,000 creatures who call this unique ecosystem home.
This spectacular caldera is almost three million years old and was formed as the result of a gigantic explosion that caused the original volcano to collapse in on itself, creating the massive crater we see today. Twelve miles wide and approximately 2,000 feet deep, the journey from the edge of the rim to the bottom of the floor takes roughly 45 minutes by vehicle.
The crater floor has an abundance of wildlife, all taking advantage of the fertile soil and lush grazing. Flocks of flamingos, hippos in the pools, and a range of herds, solitary predators, and even a few very rare black rhino make this one of the most interesting safari landscapes on earth.
Bid farewell to your private safari guide as they drop you at the the Manyara airstrip for your flight to the Serengeti. You will be treated to spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley from the window of your bush plane as you approach your next stop. Nothing says safari in Africa like arriving at your lodge by safari plane.
As you land you will be greeted by your expert guide for this next leg of the journey and whisked away in an open Landcruiser for a leisurely game drive to your secluded lodge.
Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is located in the remote Wogakuria Hills of the Northern Serengeti. The lodge is in close proximity to the Mara River on the Serengeti’s border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara, so is also within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.
Rise with the sun and embark on your first morning on safari in the Serengeti with your expert tracker-guide. This iconic park is renowned for its resident wildlife species, including the famous Big Five: buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and lions.
The park is also home to herds of grazers, and not just the wildebeest and zebra that form the Great Migration. The presence of Topi, gazelle, waterbuck and hartebeest means local carnivores, including cheetahs, hyenas and African wild dogs, are always lurking as well. The Serengeti is also home to more than 500 species of birds, including some very large specimens like ostriches, crowned cranes, marabou storks, and secretary birds.
Spend the afternoon at leisure in your luxurious camp with a dip in your private plunge pool, or enjoy a cool drink as you ‘arm chair safari’ from the exclusive vantage point of your deck.
Experience the sights and sounds of the Serengeti as you venture out with your expert guide. You are fully immersed in the experience from your perch aboard an open safari vehicle. Depending on the season you may spend some time among the immense herds that form the Great Migration, or catch an adrenaline-filled river crossing as thousands of these creatures brave the crocodiles and hippos below to make it safely to the other side.
During the heat of the afternoon, indulge in a spa treatment or cozy up with a good book or a pair of binoculars as you relax in one of the many well-appointed seating areas at your lodge.
This afternoon you have the option to head out into the bush again, perhaps to revisit an active leopard den and catch a glimpse of the new arrivals, or to check on the progress of a sleepy pride of lions as they navigate their territory. The bush is always full of surprises.
Catch the breathtaking sunrise on the Serengeti as the wildlife wakes for the day. Spend a final day exploring the plains of the Serengeti with your knowledgeable guide, and enjoy a sunset cocktail at a private bush bar.
For a truly memorable experience, your Vaya specialist can help you arrange a hot air balloon flight during your stay, for a unique birds-eye perspective on game viewing.
Say goodbye to the Serengeti and your guide as you are transferred back to the airstrip to board your flight for the island of Zanzibar.
This archipelago is made up several islands, the largest of which is Unguja, more commonly known as Zanzibar. This exotic spice island has a long and fascinating history, due in large part to its uniquely strategic position in the Indian Ocean. A historic hub for traders from India, Europe and the Middle East, Zanzibar has attracted all kinds and remains a melting pot of many cultures.
Today Zanzibar is covered with coconut plantations, spice farms and picture-perfect white sand beaches. Spend some time in Stone Town, marveling at the extraordinary carved wooden doors and discovering hidden gems in the enchanting narrow streets. Or you can simply relax by the pool or on the beach at your boutique resort.
The Zuri Zanzibar hotel offers 300 meters of private, pristine beach and a lush spice garden. Guests can enjoy the region's gorgeous African sunsets due to the property’s west-facing location on the northern edge of the main island of Unguja. The property features a restaurant, bar, beach bar, pool, spa, and bicycles.
*Includes: Breakfast and Dinner
Relax on the white sand beach at your resort, or try one of the many optional beach activities on offer. Snorkel or dive the crystal clear turquoise waters, or take a cruise on a traditional dhow boat to a private island lunch.
We can arrange excursions to suit any interest with our local private guides. Learn the history and culture of Stone Town on a private tour, and stop for high tea on the rooftop of the Emmerson Spice Hotel. Discover how a variety of spices are still cultivated on the island, the driving factor behind ancient trade routes. The more adventurous might choose to visit the giant tortoises on Prison Island or explore the island on a jeep tour, trying to spot the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkeys in Jozani National Park.
Enjoy a leisurely day on the island. Treat yourself to a massage, or lounge by the pool of your boutique resort. Wander the unspoiled beaches and relax under a palm tree, or explore the markets of Stone Town.
Today after breakfast your private driver will transfer you back to the Zanzibar airport, where you can catch your flight home or on to your next destination.
Choose from a selection of carefully curated lodges and hotels to ensure this trip fits your travel style and budget. Depending on the time of year, your Vaya specialist can also guide you to the best location for the Great Migration.
