Arrive to Windhoek. Situated in central Namibia, this quiet yet cosmopolitan city is a mix of historical architecture and modern buildings and offers a range of shopping and dining options. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to your boutique hotel for the evening.
The Olive Exclusive is a cool, stylish sanctuary in Windhoek, the Namibian capital. Its sleek, modern lines are complemented by organic textures, natural furnishings, an eco-friendly approach and dedicated personal service. Each suite is individually decorated to reflect Namibia's different regions, and each has its own lounge area with fireplace and dining room, for private dining.
*Includes: Breakfast
Take a scenic flight from Windhoek to Onguma, a private reserve bordering the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. The landscape here opens into vast salt flats, acacia woodland, and open savanna dotted with wildlife. Settle into your lodge and enjoy your first afternoon in Namibia’s northern wilderness.
In the afternoon, set out on a walking safari to take you to your home for the night: a Land Cruiser equipped with a sleeping platform so you can sleep under the stars in the bush. Surrounded by lantern light and the sounds of the night, it offers an unforgettable way to experience the stillness and beauty of the African wilderness.
Onguma The Fort is a distinctive safari lodge located at the edge of Etosha Pan in Namibia. The property features one Sultan Suite in the main tower building, 11 Bush Suites and a Honeymoon Suite, each with bar-fridge, air-conditioning, indoor and outdoor showers, and private decks with sun loungers. Facilities include a pool beside the waterhole, lounges and dining areas with pan views, and an architecture that crosses Moroccan, Indian and African design influences. The setting is renowned for its panoramic sunset views over the Etosha Pan and direct vantage of wildlife at the waterhole.
*Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Spend the day on safari in Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s great wildlife reserves. With your guide, explore the park’s network of gravel tracks that border the vast Etosha Pan: a shimmering white salt flat visible from space. Waterholes scattered around the edges draw a steady stream of animals, offering excellent chances to see elephant, lion, giraffe, and other big game.
Throughout the day, your guide will offer insight into the park’s ecosystems, seasons, and the remarkable way wildlife has adapted to this dry environment. Return to Onguma in the late afternoon to relax as the sun sets over the reserve.
Today, explore the Onguma Reserve on a guided safari. This private conservation area borders Etosha but offers a quieter, more intimate wildlife experience. The landscape shifts between open plains, mixed woodland, and seasonal waterholes that attract a variety of species, including lion, cheetah, giraffe, and black rhino.
With fewer vehicles and exclusive access to the reserve, your guide can take time to track wildlife and discuss Onguma’s conservation efforts.
Fly from Onguma into the rugged landscapes of Damaraland, a region known for its wide valleys, rocky outcrops, and scattered desert-adapted wildlife. Upon landing at Twyfelfontein, meet your private guide, who will accompany you for the rest of your journey through northwestern Namibia.
Continue to Onduli Ridge, your base for the next two nights. Set against granite boulders and open desert views, the lodge offers an immediate sense of Damaraland’s quiet, expansive beauty. Settle in and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Onduli Ridge is a boutique luxury camp set amid granite boulders in the Doro !Nawas Conservancy in Namibia’s Damaraland. The lodge comprises six elevated suites, each featuring a king-size climate-controlled bed, a partially open-air bathroom with rain shower and flush toilet, and a private deck where the bed can be rolled outside for starlit sleep. Facilities include a communal lounge, library, dining room and bar, an infinity-edge swimming pool set into the rock, and a wildlife-viewing waterhole adjacent to the camp for unobstructed sightings. The setting offers sweeping views of Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, and the remote arid plains beyond the granite ridge.
Spend the morning tracking Damaraland’s rare desert-adapted elephants with your guide. These herds move through broad valleys and dry riverbeds in search of food and water, and following their tracks offers an engaging way to experience the region’s rugged terrain.
Later, visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest concentrations of petroglyphs in Africa. Here, more than 2,500 engravings created by San hunter-gatherers depict wildlife, tracking symbols, and scenes from daily life. Your guide will share insight into the site’s history and the cultural traditions behind these markings.
Back at the lodge, those seeking more activity can take out the solar e-bikes to explore the surrounding granite outcrops and open desert.
Depart Twyfelfontein with your guide and begin the overland journey into the remote Hoanib Valley. The drive is long but exceptionally scenic, crossing wide gravel plains, dry riverbeds, and the starkly beautiful landscapes that define Namibia’s northwest. Along the way, stop for a picnic lunch in a quiet spot surrounded by open desert and dramatic mountains.
Continue into the Hoanib, where the sense of isolation and untouched wilderness becomes even more pronounced as you approach your lodge for the next three nights.
Hoanib Valley Camp is located in the Sesfontein Community Conservancy, on the banks of the Obias River in one of Namibia’s most remote and wild environments. This remote, luxury tented camp offers an intimate experience. Days are spent tracking endangered desert-adapted rhinos, elephants and giraffes, before spending the evening sipping a cocktail on your private veranda as the sun sinks below the horizon. With just six guest tents, this is an exclusive camp that blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The spacious tents are complete with en-suite bathrooms, a private veranda, tea and coffee making facilities, WiFi internet access, and a complimentary laundry service.
Today you’ll visit nearby Herero and Himba communities to learn about their traditions, daily life, and long history in this remote part of Namibia.
In the afternoon, take a guided nature walk from camp. Moving at a slower pace offers a closer look at the desert’s plant life, tracks, and the smaller species that thrive in the Hoanib’s harsh but remarkable environment.
Spend the day on safari in the Hoanib Valley in search of its remarkable desert-adapted wildlife. These animals have evolved to survive in one of Namibia’s driest regions, and learning about their adaptations adds meaningful context to each sighting. Game drives may reveal desert-adapted elephant, giraffe, and, with luck, the elusive desert lion. You may also encounter zebra, klipspringer, kudu, and herds of springbok and oryx moving across the open plains.
The area is also home to Africa’s largest population of free-roaming black rhino. Tracking these impressive animals with expert guides – whether for a full day or a shorter outing – is a highlight of any visit to the Hoanib.
Depart the Hoanib and begin the overland journey to Shipwreck Lodge on the Skeleton Coast. It’s a long day—around six hours of driving—but also one of the most scenic of the entire trip. The route crosses wide desert plains, riverbeds, and shifting dune fields, with frequent stops for photographs and to look for wildlife along the way.
As you approach the coast, the landscape opens into the stark, windswept shores that define this remote stretch of Namibia. Arrive at Shipwreck Lodge in the late afternoon and settle in.
Spend the next two days exploring the remote landscapes of the Skeleton Coast, one of Namibia’s most dramatic and untouched regions. Activities vary by day and you can choose what interests you most. Head out on nature drives across rolling dunes and dry riverbeds, walk along vast empty beaches where the Atlantic meets the desert, or visit a lively seal colony along the shoreline.
You might venture farther afield for a private beach picnic, or take to a quad bike for a closer look at the shifting dune systems surrounding the lodge. Each outing offers a different perspective on this isolated coastline and the hardy wildlife that survives here.
After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, fly back to Windhoek to connect with your international flight home or to your next destination.
Choose from a selection of carefully curated lodges and hotels to ensure this trip fits your exact travel style.
Schedule a scenic hot air balloon flight over the mystical dunes of Sossusvlei and land for a champagne breakfast.
