This 13-day 5-star itinerary begins in Bangkok with a private tour of Jim Thompson's House and the city's silk-weaving communities, followed by a private chartered river cruise to Ayutthaya, where you'll explore temples, villages, and royal palaces. A flight north brings you to Chiang Mai for a cooking class with a Lanna family, a walk along the historic Monk's Trail to mountain temples, and the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort, where rescued elephant, hot air ballooning, and cultural insights fill the days. Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok

Welcome to Thailand! You’ll be met inside immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport and guided through the fast track counters, with assistance available for visa on arrival if needed. From there, your vehicle will be waiting outside the arrivals hall for the transfer to your hotel, where you’ll have the rest of the day to settle in and explore at your leisure.

Day 2: Bangkok History and Artisans

The morning begins at Jim Thompson’s House, a complex of traditional Thai wooden structures in the heart of Bangkok that was home to the American businessman who revived the Thai silk industry in the mid-20th century. A guided tour covers his remarkable collection of art and antiques from across Southeast Asia, and the enduring mystery of his disappearance in 1967.

From there, you’ll travel by canal boat along the Saen Saeb to a historic Cham Muslim neighborhood, where the silk weavers who worked with Thompson still practice their craft. You’ll stroll through the community, visit traditional silk shops, and see the weaving process firsthand.

Day 3: Begin Private River Cruise

Board a private chartered river cruise at the Anantara Riverside pier for a journey north along the Chao Phraya toward Ayutthaya. The afternoon includes a stop at Koh Kret, a river island known for its Mon pottery tradition, where you’ll try your hand at a pottery lesson at a local workshop. Lunch is served on board as the cruise continues upstream, arriving at Wat Niwet Woravihan in time for sunset cocktails and a wine pairing dinner on the water before docking for the night.

Day 4: Ayutthaya Temples, Longtail Boats, and Dessert-Making Class

The day begins with a morning visit to Wat Niwet Woravihan and the Bang Pa-In Palace, a royal retreat combining Thai and European architectural styles on a river island. Come back onboard for lunch before a longtail boat takes you through the canals of Ayutthaya, stopping at Wat Phanan Choeng, one of the oldest and most revered temples in the ancient capital.

A Thai dessert making lesson at a local conservatory follows before the afternoon is spent exploring Ayutthaya’s UNESCO-listed historical town, where the ruins of temples and palaces from the former Siamese kingdom stretch across the landscape. Sunset cocktails and a wine pairing dinner are served onboard before docking for the night at Wat Bot.

Day 5: Return to Bangkok and Fly to Chiang Mai

The morning begins with a choice of meditation at Wat Bot or on the cruise deck, followed by a light breakfast and a visit to the temple for almsgiving to the monks and fish feeding at the river’s edge. Come back onboard as the cruise makes its way back down the Chao Phraya, with brunch served on deck as the city gradually reappears on the horizon, arriving at the Anantara Riverside pier in the afternoon. From there, your driver will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight to Chiang Mai, where the rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 6: Cooking Class, Monks Trail, and Mountain Temples

The morning takes you south of Chiang Mai to the village of Bandoo in Hangdong, where the Raunkaew-Yanon family have lived in their traditional Lanna home for nearly 150 years. After a tour of the house, rice barn, and orchard, you’ll pick fresh ingredients and cook a northern Thai meal with your own private chef.

In the afternoon, you’ll walk a section of the historic Monk’s Trail, an ancient pilgrimage route through the forest to the summit of Doi Suthep, passing stone structures and carvings along the way before climbing the 308-step Naga serpent staircase to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. On the way back down, a stop at Wat Pha Lat, a forest temple set into the hillside above the city, makes for a calm end to the afternoon. Appropriate dress is required at both temples: no shorts, shoulders must be covered, and shoes must be removed before entering.

Day 7: Rescued Elephants or Longtail Sailing

After breakfast, a private transfer takes you to the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort, set at the confluence of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.

Two optional experiences are available today. The first is an elephant encounter at the hotel’s elephant sanctuary, where you’ll learn about the mahout tradition, prepare medicinal food for rescued elephants, and spend time with the herd under the guidance of experienced caretakers.

The second is a longtail boat journey on the Mekong, departing from the ancient Lanna town of Chiang Saen and cruising along the river’s border with Laos. Those who want to set foot in a third country can make an optional stop at Don Sao, a small Lao island where entry requires no visa, with local handicrafts, rice whisky, and Beer Lao all on offer.

Day 8: Hot Air Balloon and Singha Park

The morning begins with a hot air balloon flight over the landscapes of Chiang Rai, rising to around 1,500 feet for a 45-minute flight above the hills and farmland below. A champagne celebration and flight certificate from the pilot mark the landing before you continue to Singha Park for a tram tour through the estate’s flower farms, tea plantation, swan lake, and fish farm.

Day 9: Chaing Rai Teahouse and Return to Bangkok

The morning is spent at a small teahouse run by owners who have dedicated years to studying and preserving northern Thailand’s tea heritage. The visit begins with a conversation about the origins of tea in the region and the story behind the teahouse itself, before moving into the processing techniques that shape a leaf’s aroma, color, and flavor. A hands-on workshop follows, where you’ll explore different methods and craft your own blend under your host’s guidance. The session ends with a homemade dessert paired with your personal creation.

After, you’ll transfer to the airport in Chiang Rai for a short flight back to Bangkok.

Day 10: Bangkok to Wa Ale Island, Myanmar

Your driver will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Ranong, where a short immigration process at the jetty and a brief boat crossing into Myanmar precede a luxury speedboat journey through the Andaman Sea to Wa Ale Island, arriving in the early afternoon. The island’s dramatic rock formations and pristine beach set the scene as you settle into your accommodation. The evening is at your leisure.

The restaurant serves traditional Burmese and international cuisine using ingredients from the island's own garden, local waters, and select mainland suppliers. Day 11: Myeik Archipelago Kayaking, Snorkeling, and Beach Picnic

The morning begins with a kayaking tour through the island’s mangrove forests before a swim at Honeymoon Beach. A gourmet picnic lunch on the beach is followed by an afternoon snorkeling the coral reefs of the Myeik Archipelago, one of Myanmar’s most biodiverse and least-visited marine environments. Come back to the island to unwind with a beachside massage or a yoga session as the light fades. Dinner is a fresh seafood spread at the Beach House Restaurant, with a beach bonfire and stargazing to close the evening.

Day 12: Turtle Conservation and Coastal Hike

The morning begins with beach yoga or meditation before a visit to the island’s sea turtle conservation area, where staff will walk you through the protection programs in place for nesting turtles on the beach. A hike along the island’s coastal trails follows, moving between rocky headlands and dense forest.

The afternoon is yours to spend as you please: a spa treatment, time on the beach, or another snorkeling safari through the reefs.
